Stop toying with our emotions, Guillermo!
A few days back, Universal Pictures reportedly canceled Pacific Rim 2 due to unknown circumstances.
Although Jaegar fans around the world wept, it now may be time to dry those tears, as a major studio acquisition and hope from director Guillermo Del Toro may point to the robots vs. monsters sequel happening after all.
Variety reports that Legendary Entertainment (the production company behind Pacific Rim) was recently purchased for $3.5 billion by Dalian Wanda.
Wanda, a giant Chinese entertainment and properties company, is apparently devoted to supporting existing and new franchises, like Del Toro’s baby.
This devotion from Wanda, as well as Pacific Rim’s strong box office returns and appeal in Asian markets, could signal the return of the series.
Another strong piece of evidence comes from the film’s director himself, as Del Toro took to Twitter soon after it was reported that Pacific Rim 2 was canned.
Pac Rim 2 cancelled? Don't believe everything you read. It's still going and I'll remain w it in one way or another!

Del Toro’s faith, along with Wanda’s intent to keep existing franchises growing, doesn’t necessarily spell out the return of Jaegars and Kaijus; but these are strong indications that this isnt the last we’ve heard about Pacific Rim 2.
We believe Del Toro, we believe.
