Thor Was Possessed in ‘Age of Ultron’ Deleted Scene

Thor had a vision.

[dropcap size=small]I[/dropcap]n one of the deleted scenes from The Avengers: Age of Ultron DVD that was released in September, we get to see just what Thor was up to when he suddenly ventured off during the film on some unexplained quest – which was presumably intended to be Thor’s subplot that was then removed.

In the scene, we see the son of Odin enter a cave known as the Norn cave, with his old pal, Professor Erik Selvig. Our Norse God then proceeds to get shirtless and enter a pool of water, where he becomes possessed by the Norns (the overseers of the fates of the nine worlds), and gets a glimpse of the future.

In this apparent vision, we hear about the impending doom Ultron will bring, and how to stop him. The Infinity Stones are also mentioned, which are six incredibly powerful objects tied to different aspects of the universe.

During Age of Ultron there was one particular scene that didn’t seem to make a whole lot of sense. Thor has a vision, and we see of glimpse of him in the pool featured in the deleted scene, but with no explanation as to why he was in this pool, or what he was doing.

If nothing else, the deleted scene would have certainly cleared up that mystery a touch, and made Thor’s subplot a little bit more understandable. In a big Marvel venture like The Avengers – that has so many characters, and so much going on in a 2 hour and 30 minute run time – it’s not surprising that some of the narrative and its characters got put on the sidelines.

This scene however, probably should have been kept in – it certainly would have made Thor’s subplot less patchy.
