Léa Seydoux cast as Belladonna Boudreaux for the X-Men standalone film.
The lovely French actress Léa Seydoux will star opposite of Channing Tatum in the upcoming Gambit film. She will portray Gambit’s love interest, Belladonna Boudreaux.
Deadline reports that Seydoux was competing with Abbey Lee (Mad Max: Fury Road) and Rebecca Ferguson (Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation) for the role, however, after Ferguson dropped out to pursue a part in the film adaptation of The Girl On The Train, Seydoux became the frontrunner.
Seydoux has appeared in a number of French films over the years, but she has recently made a splash into Hollywood with roles in blockbusters like Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol, and the new Bond flick, Spectre. This will be her first comic book film.
As for the character she is portraying, Belladonna is a mutant who often appears in X-Men comic storylines with Gambit. She has the ability to project blasts of energy, as well as project herself onto astral planes, and manipulate environments whilst there.
Ms. Seydoux has proven herself to be a fine actress, and hopefully she will have great chemistry with the always-charming Channing Tatum.
Gambit hits theaters on October 7, 2016.
