See if you’ll be playing those games you bought during the Summer Sale for the rest of your life.
Steam is synonymous with a couple of things: PC gamers, and PC gamers having too many games to play. The online gaming platform has always been great about providing its users value through multiple incentive like sales, however, this often leads to players having more games then they’ll ever get to play.
If you fall into this camp as a Steam user with a hefty backlog, you should check out the new website How Long to Beat Steam, which will show you how many hours, days, or even years it will take you to become a completionist.
The website uses statistics and illustrations to document a steam user’s playtime. Statistics vary from the amount of hour you have actually played, to the amount needed to 100% complete all of your games.
Here’s an example (below) of my Steam account that has only three games on record (Portal, Left 4 Dead 2, and VVVVVV). The chart shows that I’ve played a cumulative five hours so far, and if I were to complete each game to 100% it would take me 43 hours.
The site also creates pie chart illustrations comparing release dates or the Metacritic scores of your games, as well as the ability to filter which games you want tallied.
Another really cool feature is the “Steam Survival Calendar,” which tells you if you’ll live long enough to complete your library based off how long you play per week.
How Long to Beat Steam is a creative way of showing how big your library of games truly is (or small in my case). Find out how long you’ll be playing your Steam games by checking out the website here. All it takes to get started is typing in your Steam Profile ID, or logging in.
