[dropcap size=small]A[/dropcap]s if the news that Fallout 4 will be released this fall wasn’t good enough, Bethesda announced that if you pre-order their game then you get a free copy of Fallout 3. The offer is entirely exclusive to Xbox One. Unfortunately, the offer will not be available for other platforms such as Playstation 4 and Steam.

Bethesda’s vice president of PR and marketing, Pete Hines, stated that he isn’t sure just how long the offer will last on Xbox One. But there are two possible options for you to get a copy of Fallout 3.

The first option is that you can download Fallout 4 through the Xbox Store and then Microsoft will send a code for Fallout 3 to you via either email within seven to ten days. Once you redeem the code, the game will be immediately playable on your Xbox One. At some point the game will be backward compatible on Xbox One, but there is no official date yet.

The other possible option is that you pre-order Fallout 4 at a retail store like Gamespot, and from there you will receive a code for Fallout 3 when you arrive to pick up your physical copy of Fallout 4 when it is released on November 10th.

“Basically it’s meant to make sure folks know that this is not a ‘forever and ever’ thing,” Hines said. “So that does mean there is a scenario where you could go into a store to pickup a copy of Fallout 4 post-launch and not get a copy of the game with the code. But I’m not sure how many copies will include it, or for how long. To be determined.”

Fallout 4 will be released on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Windows PC on November 10th of this year.
