Is one of Game of Thrones most popular characters defying death itself?
[toggler title=”TL;DR” ]While many fans of the hit HBO show Game of Thrones were led to believe that Jon Snow died. Many other fans, a majority of them to be honest, have suggested that the color of Jon Snow’s eyes actually turned to purple after he died. What makes this theory very popular is that another character in the series has purple eyes as well. Her name is Daenerys Targaryen. This would support the popular fan theory that Jon Snow is actually half Stark and half Targaryen.[/toggler]
[dropcap size=small]I[/dropcap]f you ask any Game of Thrones fan what the tenth episode of the latest season was like, most of them will cringe in pain. To be fair, you can’t really blame them. Jon Snow, one of the most popular characters of the show, if not the most popular character, was killed off in the last few minutes of the show after being stabbed in the gut by fellow The Night’s Watch member Alliser Thorne. Immediately afterwards the Game of Thrones fandom went nuts. Multiple fan theories filled forums and chat rooms on whether or not the Lord Commander of the Night’s Watch actually was dead.
So is Jon Snow dead? That depends on who you ask. The most popular fan theory is that Jon Snow’s father is not Eddard Stark. Many fans believe that Jon is the son of Rhaegar Targaryen and Eddard Stark’s sister Lyanna Stark. According to the books, Rhaegar and Lyanna disappeared together to the Tower of Joy early in Robert Baratheon’s rebellion. It is widely believed that Rhaegar got Lyanna Stark pregnant and left her there to carry on the Targaryen dynasty.
Now this does sound a bit far-fetched. But it should be noted that at the end of Robert Baratheon’s Rebellion one year later. Eddard Starka and his men find three men of the King’s guard at the Tower of Joy. These three men are Lord Commander Ser Gerold Hightower, Ser Oswell Whent, and Ser Arthur Dayne. The reasons behind their presence at the tower and why a fight broke out between the three men and Eddard Stark and his men is currently unknown. But defending the unborn son of Rhaegar and Lyanna would be a very good reason to have the three men posted there. The only known survivors of the fight were Eddard himself and Howland Reed and Eddard recalls his sister dying “in a bed of blood,” where he made her an unknown promise just before she died.
If you look closely in the image above, Jon’s eye’s have changed color to a much brighter color than their usual brown. Some fans even believe that his eyes turned purple, which would mean he has the same eyes as Daenerys Targaryen. This would support the original theory that was just mentioned above. Whether or not this is true remains to be seen and everyone has plenty of time to figure out the facts seeing as how the next season doesn’t start until next year.
