Amy Poehler and Chris Rock were both supposedly considered to be the host of The Daily Show.
[dropcap size=small]B[/dropcap]ack in February, Daily Show host, Jon Stewart, revealed that he would not be returning to the Comedy Central talk show. Immediately after his resignation, fans were in an uproar, trying to guess who would replace the comedian on The Daily Show. Currently word has it that Trevor Noah will be Jon Stewart’s replacement.
Although Noah has received an offer from Comedy Central, he was not the only comedian that Comedy Central reached out to. It has been released that Comedy Central approached both Amy Poehler and Chris Rock for the job. Both comedians have big names in the comedy world, but unfortunately they both will not be getting the job offer.
It was expected from the beginning that Poehler would decline the offer and the assumption was correct. It was claimed to have been the “quickest no in history”. As for Chris Rock, he claimed to have been interested in the job, but that he did not wish to stay on the show past the 2016 election. Comedy Central contemplated the offer, but ultimately decided that they wanted someone who could commit for a longer period of time.
It has definitely left fans very upset that Jon Stewart will not be returning, but the show will go on. Kent Alderman, Comedy Central President, claimed that there were conversations with a number of comedians for the replacement job. Mr. Noah has been the only candidate that has received an offer.
