After being released on PC this summer, Windows 10 will be available on Xbox One.
[dropcap size=small]T[/dropcap]he highly anticipated operating system from Microsoft, named Windows 10, will be released this summer. Microsoft blogger Paul Thurrot attended Microsoft’s Build conference in San Francisco last week. Mr. Thurrot reported that Microsoft is planning a phased release of Windows 10, which will move onto other platforms after it’s release to PCs.
Back in January, Microsoft announced that Windows 10 will be integrated into Xbox One by means of a system update to the console. It is unclear at the moment how the new operating system will operate and whether or not there will be new dashboard rearrangement. Xbox One boss, Phil Spencer said, “We won’t see people using Excel on the Xbox, but Microsoft is making it easier to port experiences from PC over to Xbox where they make sense”.
One of the most exciting features that Xbox One owners are looking forward to is the ability to stream Xbox games to Windows 10 PCs. This is big news for Microsoft, showing off the chance of cross-platform play. The upcoming RPG known as Fable Legends, which is the latest installment in the Fable series, will be released on both Xbox One and PC. The game is being developed by Lionhead Studios and will feature cross-platform play. This means that both Xbox One players and PC players will be able to play together.
There is only one downside to the ability of streaming Xbox One games to PC with Windows 10. If someone is streaming a game to the PC they won’t be able to use their Xbox One for applications such as Netflix or Hulu Plus. Still, the fact that Windows 10 is offering cross-platform compatibility means that Microsoft’s Windows 10 will hopefully be the best operating system to date.
