JON STEWART AND NEIL DEGRASSE TYSON DISCUSS BATMAN VS SUPERMAN ON THE DAILY SHOW.
[dropcap size=small]T[/dropcap]he Daily Show with Jon Stewart has been airing for over 16 years and with Jon announcing his planned retirement from the show on August 6th we were fortunate enough to attend the filming of Thursday’s show with guest Neil deGrasse Tyson.
Stewart and Tyson are certainly fans of the all things Geek, however we didn’t expect the interview to devolve from Tyson’s Astronomy and Science speak to who would win in a fight between Batman and Iron Man. Pleasant surprise for sure.
Prior to the show the audience was able to ask Jon a few questions, and the answers he gave were priceless. To summarize as we were not allowed to film any of this portion, Jon thinks Superman would wipe the floor with Batman in a fight, he would choose invincibility as his super-power, and when asked what he thought about the new Star Wars trailer he said he was shocked that NASA didn’t detect his boner from space. Nailed it.
We wound Jon up so much by the Batman v Superman question that he started the show by reiterating his feeling that Superman would smoke Batman in a fight and that guest Neil deGrasse Tyson would confirm this during their interview. And confirm it he did.
The conversation began with Tyson trying to explain to Jon the sizing of a monolith however as is typically the case when Tyson speaks, it was lost on all of us. After the science talk the conversation turned Geek, where Neil discussed the origin and evolution of the typical ‘Geek’. Neil even labeled himself as the protector of Geeks at his high-school due to his superior size, and for once we’re not talking about his brain.
I’m pretty sure all Geeks could have used an adolescent Neil deGrasse Tyson in their corner in high-school. Check out the cut down episode that aired here and to see the full interview with Neil deGrasse Tyson complete with the Geek discussion check it out below.
