[dropcap size=small]T[/dropcap]he folks over at Latino Review have been busy shoveling coal into the churning ol’ Rumor Mill. They say that according to sources (it’s not clear who the sources are), Viola Davis has bagged the role of Amanda Waller for Warner Bros. Suicide Squad film.
Davis, currently best known for her work on the hit TV show How To Get Away With Murder, would be joining an A-list cast consisting of Jared Leto, Will Smith, Margot Robbie, Tom Hardy, Jai Courtney, and Cara Delevingne.
In the DC comics universe, Amanda Waller is a former congressional aide and government agent often placed in charge of the Suicide Squad, a semi-secret government-run group comprised of former supervillains working in return for amnesty.
According to the mystery sources, the Amanda Waller role will belong to Davis, provided that the production can work around her TV schedule. If she’s able to snag the role, she will have beat out Oprah Winfrey and Octavia Spencer, who were previously rumored to be up for the part.

Suicide Squad will be directed by David Ayer, and is slated for release August 5, 2016.
Oprah… would be epic.
