Merc City and Furia are now in development.
Rejoice Riddick fans. Vin Diesel has confirmed that a fourth film in The Chronicles of Riddick series is coming, along with a new show set in the same universe.
Diesel revealed the news via his Instagram account.
As the post indicates, the new film will be titled Furia, and will be written, and probably directed, by series veteran David Twohy.
The new show, Merc City, will explore the many bounty hunters and mercenaries of the sci-fi series, and will be produced by Diesel’s One Race Films.
The Chronicles of Riddick series debuted in 2000 with Pitch Black, and has spanned three films, an animated movie, and two games (Escape from Butchers Bay is fantastic).
The film series follows Richard B. Riddick (Diesel), an ex-mercenary with night vision who is the last remaining Furyan, an extinct race of warriors.
We can assume from the title that Furia will probably explore Riddick’s past, hopefully revealing what exactly happened to his people before the events of Pitch Black.
Diesel also recently confirmed that another one of his franchises, Fast and Furious, will be growing, with new prequel and spinoff films.
We’ll let you know when more Furia, Merc City, and Riddick news is revealed.
