With the 20th anniversary coming up this summer, an announcement would make sense at E3!
[dropcap size=small]O[/dropcap]ne of Sony’s classic franchises, Crash Bandicoot has not been around for quite some time since Activision shut down the official website in 2013. But the last couple months, there have been a few teasers that lead us to believe that either a new game or reboot announcement could be made this summer!

Last week, this tweet was sent out from Sony’s Middle East Twitter account. If anything, this could be just a tease and nothing to worry about. But in December at the Playstation Experience, Sony’s Shawn Layden trolled Playstation fans by wearing a Crash Bandicoot T-shirt on stage (which can be seen below.)
This past weekend at the New York Toy Fair, NECA Toys toy director Randy Falk told PixelDan that Sony will bring back Crash Bandicoot.
“I see they’re bringing Crash Bandicoot back, so there’s some great stuff there.”
Falk’s statement comes less than a week after the tweet from Playstation Mid East was sent out, which makes us believe that Crash Bandicoot will have an announcement soon.
In 2014, Sony President Andrew House stated that a reboot is possible and that he “definitely wouldn’t close the door on that.”
Crash Bandicoot was released in 1996, which turned out to be one of Sony’s best franchise games. Sony created three more games before selling the rights to Activision, who have since created 4 games. The last game created by Activision was Crash Bandicoot: Nitro Kart 2 in 2010 before shutting down the official website a few years later.
With all of the teasers that have been put out there, I really think that this will happen. It’s just a matter of when and it would be a disappointment if we didn’t at least get an official announcement on the plan to have Crash return to the Sony family. Let’s hope that this is what the plan is for one of Playstation’s originals!
Look out this summer for Crash Bandicoot as it will be it’s 20th anniversary, which could be when an announcement will be made!
