The director of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 claims Zoe Saldana “misspoke”.
[dropcap size=small]A[/dropcap] few days ago actress Zoe Saldana (Gamora) was talking to reporters during the UK premiere of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 regarding the upcoming Avengers film and during the interview Zoe Saldana said, “I think the Guardians just shot their part when it comes to Infinity War and we all have to go back for Gauntlet later this year.” The possible slip up quickly spread like wildfire particularly because Marvel CEO Kevin Feige claimed he wouldn’t give away the title of the fourth Avengers film because it would be a spoiler for Avengers: Infinity War.
However, director James Gunn quickly stepped in and in an interview with Yahoo! Movies claimed “It’s not the title. My guess is that Zoe just misspoke. I’ll talk to Zoe today, but I would imagine that is just Zoe misspeaking and saying Infinity Gauntlet instead of Infinity War.”
Whether or not James Gunn is doing some public relations repair work for Marvel and covering up for Zoe Saldana’s possible slip up remains to be seen. Is it possible that the fourth Avengers film is titled Avengers: Gauntlet? Absolutely. But even if the fourth Avengers film is titled Avengers: Gauntlet that really isn’t a spoiler considering Thanos does acquire the Infinity Gauntlet and Marvel has already hinted what is to come with the short scene in the middle of the credits for Avengers: Age of Ultron. For now, we’ll just have to wait and see what Marvel unveils over the next coming months.
