Game of Thrones Season Eight isn’t Coming Until 2019

Screw last season’s fast travel, WE NEED TIME TRAVEL.

No need to Hold the Door on 2018, A Song of Ice and Fire (the show at least) isn’t wrapping up till next year. HBO has confirmed that the eighth and final season of Game of Thrones will premiere in 2019.

That’s right. Not this spring. Or this summer. Next year.

We’re off to a great start, 2018! A bomb cyclone, Logan Paul, and now no GoT !!!

Anyway, it was also confirmed that the eighth season will have only six episodes, and will be directed by showrunners David Benioff & D.B. Weiss, as well as David Nutter and Miguel Sapochnik.

HBO didn’t give a reason why the massively popular series would be taking a break this year, but there’s a good chance it’s to accommodate the busy schedules of the main cast. Sansa and Arya are going to be in two different X-Men movies this year, and Emilia Clarke is set to appear in Solo this summer…assuming the Star Wars flick doesn’t get delayed.

Well, if anything, this year-long break will certainly build hype and get us excited for the ensuing battle of ice and fire.

And Bran’s final transformation into John Oliver.

Game of Thrones returns in 2019.
