Wolverine 2.0? Perhaps at some point in the future!
[dropcap size=small]W[/dropcap]hat seems like forever ago, Hugh Jackman has been the Wolverine for all of the X-Men movies. But recently, Jackman has proclaimed that he will be done with the role after Logan is released to theaters next week. Jackman talked about the idea of another Wolverine in the future:
“The character will go on. Someone else will play it, for sure. [He insisted he was at peace with that] Unless Daniel Day-Lewis plays him and wins the Oscar — then I might have a little problem.”
This isn’t the first time that Jackman has promoted the idea of another Wolverine. In 2015, he specifically targeted Tom Hardy as the actor who should play the next Wolverine. Fans took to Jackson’s side and he instantly became a fan favorite for a potential future role. Hardy certainly checks off at all the requirements to be the next Wolverine. Hardy, and other high profile actors, will eventually be looked at to play Wolverine next.
Jackman has made it clear that Logan will be the last time that he will reprise the role of the Wolverine. The way the movie looks, it may just be his best performance. But considering that this is Jackman’s last movie as the Wolverine, FOX will most likely not rush into making another Wolverine movie for a while. FOX also has a busy schedule at the moment with the Deadpool sequel, New Mutants and the next X-Men movie all in development. But maybe in a few years, we will see the Wolverine again in a reboot.
Logan looks to be the big farewell that Hugh Jackman deserves for his role as the Wolverine. From his first role in X-Men (2000) to Logan this year, Jackman has done a phenomenal job playing the role and will be missed by the X-Men fanbase.
Logan will be released to theaters in less than a week on Friday, March 3rd!
