Could Superman face off against Black Adam in Man of Steel 2? Or will they both show up in Shazam?
Both certainly seems possible. Over Christmas, The Rock cooked up a new picture on his Instagram of himself and Henry Cavill sharing some drinks and being excited for “what the future holds.”
We’ve known since 2014 that Johnson signed on to portray Black Adam in the DC Extended Universe, with an assumed debut in a Shazam film, currently scheduled for 2019.
However, this photo tease suggests to us that we might see Black Adam sooner than that. Maybe he’ll beat Superman up in the unscheduled Man of Steel sequel, or maybe he’ll pop up in one of the Justice League movies.
We don’t know, but we do know that the DCEU desperately needs The Rock more than ever. With two lackluster DC movies this year, and a still very sketchy future slate of films, we’re honestly surprised Johnson is still on board to portray a fairly obscure character, but his charisma and charm would certainly help out this bummer cinematic universe.
And a live-action Superman/Black Adam fight could certainly be cool too.
One more thing…when is Shazam (Captain Marvel) going to be cast?!? His nemesis was cast two years ago! Come on DC and Warner Bros., hurry up and sign on John Cena.
Shazam hits theaters on April 5, 2019.
