No word yet if M. Night Shyamalan will return to produce. What a twist!
The psychological thriller series, Wayward Pines, has been renewed for a second season at FOX.
The 10-episode first season of the show, executive produced by M. Night Shyamalan, aired last summer with a strong average audience of 9.4 million on multiple platforms.
“Wayward Pines was a huge hit for us this past summer. We were absolutely blown away by the mysterious and surprising world that Night and his team created, and the twisting-and-turning storytelling that drew viewers in from day one,” said FOX President David Madden, “Season Two is going to take the suspense, the vision of the future and the haunting character drama to whole new levels, and we can’t wait for our fans to continue that ride next year.”
Season one followed Secret Service Agent Ethan Burke (Matt Dillon) as he investigates the disappearance of two fellow agents in a seemingly peaceful small town called Wayward Pines. Of course, everything is not as it seems, and Burke must now uncover the secrets behind the mysterious location.
We were pleasantly surprised with Wayward Pines, especially with Shymalan’s involvement, and we’re excited to see what direction this new season takes.
Wayward Pines season two will air in Summer 2016 on FOX.
