You might remember the trailer for Kung Fury that was all over the internet about a year ago. The time has finally come and the finished product is now up on YouTube… for free!
[dropcap size=small]O[/dropcap]nce the official trailer for Kung Fury hit the web with its perfect blend of humor, action, and hardcore 80’s nostalgia, it was a given that the film would be a huge success. The problem is always in the finances, however, thanks to the modern miracle of kickstarter backers, the short film is complete.
Kung Fury is exactly what fans of the trailer would expect it to be. An ex-cop turned ninja freak must use the help of his friends Triceracop (yes, it’s a cop with the head of a Triceratops), Hackerman, Thor, and many others to hack his way back in time to kill none other than the “kung fuhrer” himself, Adolf Hitler.
For an over-the-top comedy spoof of old-school kung fu movies, it’s pretty solid. It had me laughing from start to finish, but then I also couldn’t help but notice how well-made it was. The CGI is spot on, and even when it isn’t it still totally works. Plenty of cheesy 80’s gags to go around in this one.
Check out the short film in its entirety for free on YouTube.
After only a day, Kung Fury has racked up almost 3 million views. Writer and director David Sandberg should be very proud of his ridiculously awesome film. Hopefully this isn’t the last we’ll see of our new internet action hero.
