In celebration of World Emoji Day, Sony announced yesterday that an emoji movie is in the works!

[dropcap size=small]O[/dropcap]ver the past few years, we have seen emojis become a huge part of social media when it comes to expressing ourselves. The ultimate emoji expression was made by Sony yesterday when they announced that they are working on an emoji movie titled EmojiMovie: Express Yourself that will be ready for summer 2017!

Sony Animation also revealed that they have cast Silicon Valley‘s T.J. Miller for the movie. You can check out his audition and all of his emoji expressions down below!

Miller is well-known for his role in Silicon Valley, as well as contributing to Deadpool. Miller has proven to be a very comedic character and will be a perfect fit to this movie. He was disappointed when he was informed that the emoji movie would not be a live-action movie and reacted with a couple of “sad face emojis.”

Other past works for Miller include voice roles in Big Hero 6, How to Train your Dragon and High School USA. Miller’s latest project is shooting Stephen Spielberg’s adaptation of Ready Player One.

Anthony Leondis (Lilo and Stitch 2) will write the script and direct the movie, along with Eric Siegel (Men at Work).

I feel like this was an idea that needed some time in order to hit the big screen. Animation movies have been a huge hit these past few years, including this summer’s biggest hit Finding Dory! If you thought animation movies were only good in the 90’s, you are greatly mistaken!
