‘Indiana Jones 5’ Is Coming, Says Disney. Harrison Ford Set To Return

Disney CEO Bob Iger confirmed that the man with the hat and whip will return for a fifth movie!

[dropcap size=small]A[/dropcap]fter Lucasfilms was purchased by Disney back in 2012 for $4 billion (which were owned by Paramount), Disney acquired the rights to both Star Wars and Indiana Jones franchises. They immediately went into production with Star Wars, but not Indiana Jones. Now, it looks like the Indiana Jones series is set to continue.

In an interview with Bloomberg News, Disney CEO Bob Iger said: “With George Lucas’s Star Wars – and Indiana Jones, by the way, which will be coming, we have more great stories.”

In 2015, director Stephen Spielberg told Yahoo that he will likely work on a movie that would star Harrison Ford and a younger Indiana Jones. Rumors speculate that Bradley Cooper and Chris Pratt were the top candidates to play the younger role.

Spielberg said: “Now I’ll probably do an Indy 5 with Harrison, [so] it’ll be five for Harrison, four for Tom [Hanks].”

Spielberg told French Radio RTL in a separate interview: “I am hoping one day to make it to an Indiana Jones V. I would hope to make it before Harrison Ford is 80 and I get much older.”

Both of these quotes pretty much spell out that Ford and Spielberg both want this to happen. Heck, I don’t think anyone would want anyone else to make the next Indiana Jones than Spielberg and Ford. I like the idea of flashbacks with the two candidates, Cooper and Pratt, for the younger role.

If the news didn’t get you excited enough for this, here’s a montage of some of the best moments from the historic series with Indiana’s theme song by John Williams.
