The new movie will include Jason’s entire family!

[dropcap size=small]O[/dropcap]ne of the most iconic horror characters is getting a new story written for his next movie. After former director David Bruckner left the project, Paramount Pictures is still looking for a director to head the movie. The Reel Word interviewed Brad Fuller, producer for Platinum Dunes, about the newest installment and the direction that Jason’s new story will be going toward.

“Aaron’s story has great characters…You kind of have to understand Jason Voorhees, so we go back and we kind of started over and work our way forward,” said Fuller. When asked to clarify it was an origin story, he stated it will be “Origin-ish, but it’s an origin that no one has seen before. Obviously Pamela’s there, but it’s a little bit different from what you’ve seen before.”

If you forgot who Pamela is, she is Jason’s mom and she was the original villain in this series before Jason was ready to spread terror everywhere. Fuller did admit that there was some footage presented to him that was abandoned.

“There was a lot of found-footage scripts that they wanted us to make and I was not going to do that because I don’t think that can exist in Jason Voorhees’ world,”

Not sure what the story will be about, but it’s rumored that it will include Jason’s entire family, something we haven’t seen in any Friday the 13th movie. Fuller confirmed on Friday of the family get-together during in an interview with Yahoo.

“We’re going to go back and we’re going to meet that family. We’re going to meet the family. You’re gonna meet Pamela, Elias, and Jason. And you’re gonna see how it all happened.”

Jason’s dad, Elias, has only been referenced in past movies, so to hear that he will be in this one is huge! It was said in the comic book Friday the 13th: Pamela’s Tale that Pamela killed Elias because of his abusive side. The only time Elias’s character is portrayed is in Friday the 13th: Jason Lives, where at the end of the movie, Elias visits Jason’s empty grave. Considering that the story is going in a new direction, we can assume that both of these references have been thrown out.

Friday the 13th reboot is set to be released on January 13th, 2017!
