Chris Hemsworth is Considering an ‘Allan Quartermain’ Film Franchise

The famous Aussie actor could be the British-version of Indiana Jones, but twice as bad-ass.

[dropcap size=small]A[/dropcap]ccording to The Tracking Board, Chris Hemsworth is seriously considering accepting the lead role in a script that is based on English-writer H. Rider Haggard’s Allan Quartermain. According to The Tracking Board’s sources Barnett Brettler has written the script for the possible movie, although it is unclear at this time if it is based on H. Rider Haggard’s King Solomon Mine’s.

Allan Quartermain

If you haven’t had the pleasure of reading H. Rider Haggard’s King Solomon’s Mines I will give you a quick summary. The story follows a man by the name of Allan Quartermain who detests the English way of life, as well as the climate, and prefers to live in what is now South Africa. He has keen instincts, enjoys the use of sarcasm and is the best marksman the world has ever seen. (If you’re having a rough time picturing Allan Quartermain, think of a British-version of Indiana Jones.) At some point Quartermain is approached by his friend Captain John Good of the Royal Navy to help the aristocrat Sir Henry Curtis find his brother, who has mysteriously vanished on a quest in uncharted territory for King Solomon’s Mines. Quartermain accepts the plea for help and sets off on an adventure filled with danger, mystery, beautiful women and of course, treasure.

Not that I’m tired of superhero movies, but it sounds like the perfect story for Chris Hemsworth to helm. Hollywood could use an Indiana Jones kind of franchise to shake things up.
