Jean Grey of House Stark has the scoop.
The next main series X-Men movie is happening, and it’s happening soon. Apparently.
Sophie Turner, aka Sansa Stark, aka Jean Grey, seemingly confirmed a follow-up to X-Men: Apocalypse will begin production in the coming months.
She revealed this while speaking with HeyUGuys at the BAFTAs. Here’s her quote:
“We’re about to start shooting the next X-Men, we’ve just finished shooting Season 7 of [Game of] Thrones, and I’ve got a couple of movies to do before X-Men starts. And then we go on to Season 8.”
It has been previously confirmed by X-Men producer Simon Kinberg that an Apocalypse sequel set in the 90’s would most likely happen, but no further official details have been revealed.
Since then, rumors have been swirling around that this upcoming film would (again) be an adaptation of the Dark Phoenix Saga, where Jean Grey transforms into the deadly cosmic being Phoenix.
In fact, My Entertainment World (via Screenrant) seems to have revealed that the film be titled X-Men: Supernova, and based off the leaked synopsis, will indeed feature Phoneix. Check out that synopsis below.
“Gathered together by Professor Charles Xavier to protect a world that fears and hates them, the X-Men had fought many battles, been on adventures that spanned galaxies, grappled enemies of limitless might, but none of this could prepare them for the most shocking struggle they would ever face. One of their own members, Jean Grey, has gained power beyond all comprehension, and that power has corrupted her absolutely! Now they must decide if the life of the woman they cherish is worth the existence of the entire universe!”
The same report also indicated that production on X-Men: Supernova would begin on June 15, 2017, so it seems like Sophie does indeed know what she’s talking about.
We’ll let you know when official details on this new X-Men movie emerge, and hopefully, it’s better than Apocalypse.
