Kingdom Hearts 3 Releasing in 2018, Toy Story World Revealed

You’ve got a friend in me (in 2018).

During the Level Up! Showcase at the 2017 D23 Expo in Anaheim, California, we got a brand-new trailer for Kingdom Hearts 3, confirming that a world based on Toy Story will be in the game.

During the trailer, we see Sora, Donald, and Goofy arrive in Andy’s Room as blocky-action figures versions of themselves and take on a bunch of Heartless. Afterwards, Woody, Buzz, and few other of Andy’s toys meet Sora, explaining that the Heartless showed up around the time a few toys and Andy disappeared. To find their friends and take on the Heartless, Woody and Buzz agree to partner with Sora and crew.

We then got lots of gameplay footage of Woody AND Buzz  fighting alongside Sora, Donald, and Goofy, pulling off a variety of new moves including a cool keyblade transformation that turned the weapon into a giant mallet. Also, we got real cool sequence where Sora was fighting in a TOY MECHSUIT.

The trailer then ends with confirmation that Kingdom Hearts 3 will release in 2018.

There’s a lot to unpack here. First, the Toy Story world looks incredible. The characters and environments (especially the lawn and Andy’s room) look straight out of a Pixar movie. Also seeing that you can have FOUR party members fight alongside Sora was incredible too.

Will KH3 actually come out next year? Eh..doubtful, but considering how fantastic this footage looked, maybe the game is far enough along to finally, FINALLY release.

I can’t believe I’m writing this…

Kingdom Hearts 3 comes to the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in 2018.
